The City of Leeds Display Team have been together since 2004 following the successful Gymnaestrada of 2003. We are a group of gymnasts varying in age from 6 to 21.

We incorporate all levels of gymnastics from recreational level up to national champions. Whilst one of our coaches is a veteran of Gymnaestrada (having attended the previous 9) many of our gymnasts experienced their first Gymnaestrada in Dornbirn, Austria in July 2007.

The team aims to provide an opportunity for gymnasts of all levels to work together, in true club spirit, to perform displays at Local, Regional, National & International events.

We currently train twice a month on a Sunday.

Although we perform as ‘The City of Leeds’ our coaches and gymnasts come from various clubs around Yorkshire.

For those who don’t know, Gymnaestrada is non competitive and offers an opportunity for gymnasts from recreational level upwards to take part in mass displays. We are now preparing for the 14th World Gymnaestrada, which is due to take place in Switzerland in July 2011.

Anyone wishing to be a part of our Team and travel to Switzerland, as part of Team GB should join us now, as preparations take from eighteen months to two years; we have to cover all our costs so the fundraising needs to start now. The earlier you get involved the easier it is to spread the cost.
